The assessors office is responsible for valuing all real and personal property in Putnam Township including the Village of Pinckney. The office is also responsible for the recording and maintenance of Property Transfer Affidavits, Deeds and Principal Residence Exemption.
If there has been a transfer of ownership, deed or a land use permit file with the township, expect a member of the staff to visit your property.
In late February all property owners will receive an Assessment Notice- download .pdf here. Please read this notice. This is the bases for you 2010 tax bills. The change amount is the change in assessed value & change in taxable value. Not the change in taxes for 2010.
Pay close attention to line #5 concerning transfer of ownership and % exemption line.
Property owners are encouraged to review their property record card for accuracy.
