Zoning regulates the use of the land within the township. It is the tool used to implement the master plan and to ensure land uses are compatible to the surroundings area. It is also used to protect natural resources and property values. Zoning districts divide the township into various districts and land uses such as residential, commercial and industrial uses.

The zoning administrator is also responsible for inspection and zoning and general law ordinance enforcement.
